18th March 2017.
The event took place at Mount Grace School, Potters Bar.
Eight teams, each of 20 boards, played 3 rounds of Jamboree pairings. The top five teams qualified for the U11 Final in Oldham.
Kent were unstoppable, taking first place by scoring 46 out of a maximum 60. Barnet, our local rivals, scored 41 and took a deserved second place. The other qualifiers were Cambridge (36.5), Richmond (35.5) and Essex(33.5/). Herts took 6th place on 23 points some way behind Essex and didn’t qualify.
Despite hosting the event at our home venue many of our top U11 players were otherwise occupied and unable to play. Nevertheless, the match did give less experienced U11 and promising U9 players the opportunity to pit themselves against stronger opponents than they might otherwise have encountered.
There were some notable performances throughout the whole team. The following six players score two out of three: Alex Leslie (bd 2), Adiveer Baweja (bd 4), Scarlett Wolstenholme (bd 9), Zack Jaffe (bd 11) , Alex Cham (bd 14) and Adefuyi Oalgbegi (bd 15).
