UK Chess Challenge
Where: Oakwood Primary School, Central Drive, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL4 0XA
When: Sunday 22nd April 2018
Time: 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Seven rounds using the Swiss pairing system. Please note that nobody is knocked out – all seven rounds will be played. It is probable that later round times will be brought forward for an earlier finish. Please reach the venue by 12.45 p.m.
Open to: All chess-playing children born on or after 1 September 1999. You may enter whether or not you have already qualified for a Mega final from another school or club
Entry fee is £25 to be paid by cheque payable to Wisdom Education sent to

Time Control & Rules:
15 minutes each on the clock. UK Chess Challenge rules will apply.
Grading: This event is not graded
Scoring: 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss and 0 for missing a round/default. However, please let us know if you would like your child to enter the tournament but they cannot play in every round. At least 5 rounds must be played to qualify for the Mega final.
Prizes: Badges, gold spots, mascots and mini puzzle books to be won. There is a small trophy for the overall winner,
The top scoring boy and girl in each year group (U7 to U11) will qualify for their local Mega final. All players scoring 17 points or over (for U11) will also qualify, e.g. a player under 11 years old at 31/8/2017 (Year 6 and below) would qualify with 4 wins and 2 draws and 1 loss or 3 wins and 4 draws.
Food: Children (and parents) please bring your own refreshments.
Parking: Parking is available and adjoining streets
Parents: We ask that you (or another responsible adult) stay with your child at the school during the tournament.
